ComDirect Bank

Overview: Comdirect bank is one of Europe's leading on-line banks providing automated banking services, direct brokerage and financial consulting to a new generation of active investors. Comdirect's philosophy is to provide their clients with a hands-on approach financial decision making while facilitating responsible investing. Comdirect is one of the most heavily frequented financial websites with over 595,000 direct brokerage clients.

Business Challenge: In order to offer value to it's client base, Comdirect's main focus was to build systems that:

• Provided online traders with information regarding financial markets
• Perform on demand review of market analytics
• Show real time currency exchange rates
• Offer education services on complex financial topics to both existing and potential customers

Considering the nature of their clients, Comdirect was also concerned about the performance of any system developed. In order to maintain their hold on their market share, Comdirect needed to have successful resolution to all their issues.

Business Solution: After an analysis of Comdirect's clients' requirements, a site was created with functionality for:

• Quick search and display of information about existing products and services
• An analysis and reporting tool called "INFORMER" (created and integrated in close cooperation with Teledata AG, Frankfurt am Main)
• A secure transaction area (direct brokerage)
• A community area for facilitation of information sharing among individual investors
• Commerce capability and a Self-Guided tour
• A company description page, Press area, Job posting area and an investor relations area
• Several back-end systems were also developed in order to support this robust website

Technical Solution: The technology that used for development had to mirror the technology already in use for the sites created by Comdirect bank. Therefore the corporate presence was realized in part via the TCL-based programming language FTL, developed by Innovative Software GmbH in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. For data storage and retrieval Innovative Software's hierarchical database was used.

During this project our engineers closely collaborated with Teledata AG, Frankfurt am Main.
