Honeywell

Overview: Honeywell is a diversified technology and manufacturing company, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services, control technologies for buildings, homes, and industry, automotive products, power generation systems, specialty chemicals, fibers, plastics, and electronic and advanced materials. The companies operations are conducted under four business units: Aerospace Solutions, Automation and Control, Performance Materials, and Power and Transportation Products.

DDGlobal was helping Entigo [Honeywell's portal supplier] and Honeywell's Aerospace division with an EAI (Enterprise Application Integration) project to automate B2B relationships with select customers, to integrate newly implemented part ordering portal and provide enhance capabilities to CSR workstation.

Business Challenge: To eliminate manual processing of orders from major customers using the ESIS independent private trading network.

  • Improve business relationships and customer satisfaction
  • Reduce / Eliminate double order entry for customers and Honeywell personnel (manual processing)
  • Reduce / Eliminate errors and improve error detection
  • Increase cycle and response times
  • Improve and enhance CSR process
  • Improve integrity of the data flowing through the system
  • Providing reporting capabilities on order received and processed

Busines Solution: DDGlobal is defining the system architecture, design, and processes associated with the B2B integration (B2Bi) solution. The solutions will provide the following services:

  • Automate existing order management process
  • Translate, preview, acknowledge and load EDI transaction documents into existing legacy systems
  • Define and document B2Bi process and procedures for other Honeywell divisions
  • Integrate Web based portal with ordering system

Technical Solution: DDGlobal implemented GE Global Exchange Services Enterprise and Application Integrator software. The tools are used to map/convert EDI transactions into Honeywell's proprietary data format and transport them to multiple legacy systems for processing.

Outcome of Engagement: The initial phase [Concept phase] was to launched in October 2001. The following phase which is focusing CSR process enhancement has lunch time frame April 2002. Upon successful initial phases completion, Honeywell plans to invest future EAI projects and leverage DDGlobal' system integration capabilities.
