Overview : Part of the United States National Institute of Health.  The mission of the National Cancer Institute is to eliminate the suffering and death due to cancer. NCI is committed to achieve this goal by the year 2015 through a process of discovery, development, and delivery .   Within this framework, NCI researchers work to more fully integrate discovery activities through interdisciplinary collaborations; accelerate development of interventions and new technology through translational research; and ensure the delivery of these interventions for application in the clinic and public health programs as state-of-the-art care for all those in need

Business Challenge : NCI has a number of academic professors, scientists and government officials who provide seminars all around the world on topics of discovery, new medicines and treatments. The issue is that many people are unable to attend these conferences and the web site did not offer any virtual learning or presentation solutions.

Business Solution : DDGlobal worked closely with NCI to design a new web site design and to integrate into that site a virtual multimedia presentation solution that would allow them to stream and retain for future use any of the ongoing presentations, lectures and seminars around the world. This solution, DDPodium, is a virtual presentation solution jointly developed and funded by DDGlobal and NCI and which allows search capability as well as live streaming, audio, video and synchronization between slides and live video footage.

Outcome of Engagement: The outcome has been a transformation of NCI into a world leader in the business of communications and learning solutions for research and development.
